There's something about eating outside by the sea that no indoor restaurant can quite match — the breeze, the sound of the waves below, a glass of something cold in the sunshine. From Friday 1st May, we're delighted to welcome guests and visitors to Sea Vista, our new al fresco dining experience set in the gardens of The Royal Glen.
Tucked between the lavender beds and the lawn that rolls down toward the esplanade, Sea Vista has been designed for long, unhurried lunches and golden-hour dinners through the summer months. The setting does most of the work — pine trees, sea air, and the gentle clink of cutlery on a warm afternoon — but our chef has put together a menu to match it.
A menu built around the coast
Sea Vista is unapologetically a seafood menu. We've drawn on the best of the South West coast: Brixham crab, locally landed sole, plump scallops served in their shells with crispy bacon and panko, and a generous crab, crayfish and lobster linguine that has already become a favourite during recipe testing.
For lighter appetites or a sunshine lunch, our small plates feature local cockles, potted brown shrimp in a Kilner jar with clarified butter, lightly dusted calamari with sweet chilli, and shucked whelk meat — all served with sourdough and Cornish artisan malt vinegar. Starters run from a classic crayfish and lobster cocktail in Marie Rose to grilled mackerel fillet with homemade horseradish cream.
Mains keep things fresh and seasonal: seared tuna with hasselback new potatoes, beer battered hake with thick-cut chips, and the local sole fillet with tenderstem and liliput caper butter.
When and how to visit
Sea Vista is open daily through the summer:
- Lunch served 12:00 – 14:00
- Dinner served 18:30 – 20:00
